Lemmon offers several parks for year round fun! Whether its playgrounds, pools, picnic shelters, ball diamonds, tennis courts, ice rinks or the distinguished Petrified Wood Park & Museum, Lemmon has something for everyone.
Just 12 miles south of Lemmon is the beautiful Shadehill Reservoir. With almost 100 miles of coastline, great views, fishing, and both primitive camping spots, RV hookups and cabin rentals, Shadehill makes for a great weekend getaway!
The Grand River grassland boasts 154,783 acres of diverse landscapes of mixed grass prairie, river bottom, wooded draws, sand dunes, badlands, and buttes. Popular activities include hunting, fishing, horseback riding, biking, camping, and hiking.
Located almost an hour southwest of Lemmon, the Slim Buttes area of Custer National Forest is an incredible place comparable to the badlands of North Dakota and South Dakota. With incredible views, cow trails to take you on your own adventure, a National Natural Landmark, and historic sites, you will feel like you have stepped onto another planet all together!
Hugh Glass Dash
Every August, this 7-mile run is held in the spirit of prairie perseverance, grit, and the remembrance of the legendary Hugh Glass and his famed grizzly encounter of 1823.
New in 2021, the Thunderhawk Wide Open bike race traverses the vast and beautiful scenery of the Dakotas on three different routes that travel through North Dakota, South Dakota, and the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
